Every time I play the Sanshin, I’m reminded that it’s more than an instrument; it’s a living expression of Okinawa’s heart. Each note carries the island’s history, memory, and enduring spirit. For me, as someone who deeply respects Okinawa's culture, playing the Sanshin feels like entering into a quiet conversation with the past, one that continues to echo with peace and resilience.

三線を弾くたびに、私はそれが単なる楽器ではなく、沖縄の「心」を表す生きた表現であることを思い出します。一音一音に、この島の歴史、記憶、そして変わらぬ精神が息づいています。沖縄の文化に深い敬意を抱く者として、三線を奏でるたびに、過去と静かに語り合うような感覚を覚えます。そこには、平和とたくましさの響きがあります。

Recently, I’ve been deeply touched by messages from Okinawans around the world who’ve said they can feel my genuine respect and passion through the music. Your words mean more than I can express. They remind me that the Sanshin’s spirit still connects people across oceans, generations, and languages.

The Sanshin has always carried a peaceful soul, one that transcends borders and speaks a universal language of harmony. My hope is that, in some small way, its gentle sound continues to bridge understanding and friendship between people and cultures everywhere.
